Máscara teotihuacana

M·scara teotihuacanaTeotihuacan mask made of a deep green-colored stone. It was found in Offering 82 with a pair of earplugs accompanying it. Measuring 21.5 cm in height, it still preserves its shell and obsidian inlay in eyes and teeth. Teotihuacan was the first great metropolis of Mesoamerica and its great culture stood out in all respects. Teotihuacan masks and faces are particularly recognizable throughout the world, for their expressive quality and extraordinary manufacture. This mask would have been at least eight centuries old when the Mexicas deposited it in one of their offerings.
