Jewelry
Jewelry. Pieces made of precious metals. Perhaps imported from South America, pre-Hispanic metallurgy flourished in Mesoamerica in the Postclassic period. Its splendor is particularly evident in the magnificent work of Mixtec metalworkers. In the Templo Mayor there are several examples of silver and gold metalwork, the latter of which was called "excrement of the gods" by the Mexicas. Different techniques, such as hammering, filigree and the lost wax
process, were used to fashion these pieces. .
