Offerings
Offerings were a means of communication between
the gods and man, who sought to obtain greater divine benefits in agriculture,
warfare, health, and so forth. The intention underlying the offering was
of greater value than the objects themselves. In general, it was a form
of repayment to give thanks for divine gifts or to placate the ire of the
gods, which led to misfortune if unattended. This is a general view of
Chamber II, one of the richest offerings found to date at the Templo Mayor
in terms of diversity of elements.
