We are looking for volunteers! If you want to learn about archaeological rock art site recording, preserving petroglyphs, or gaining a better understanding of the prehistory of the Phoenix basin, then please consider donating some time (weekday or weekend) by joining other community members as a volunteer for the South Mountain Rock Art Project.
Volunteers will be actively involved in recording archaeological features and artifacts in addition to rock art, and will learn more about using a landscape-based approach to understanding prehistoric use of the area. Most of this work will involve working off-trail, in rugged terrain, so we ask that volunteers be over the age of 15, unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Volunteers are expected to register with the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department before volunteering by printing and filling out this form and turning it in to the reception desk at Pueblo Grande Museum (or send it by mail ATTN: Todd Bostwick). Also, volunteers who are under the age of 18 need to have their parents sign a consent form along with their volunteer application. We also ask that volunteers submit their personal and emergency contact information to the Project Director on their first day of volunteering before going into the field, so that we are aware of any medical conditions and know how to get help, in case of an emergency.
If you haven't signed up already, send an email to: archaeologist @ asu . edu to get put on our volunteer listserv (remove spaces from address). This allows us to let potential volunteers know about upcoming field opportunities, details on where and when to meet, and more information about the project.

Volunteer forms:
1. Phoenix Parks and Recreation Volunteer Application    Drop off or mail to Pueblo Grande Museum, ATTN: Todd Bostwick 4619 E. Washington Street, Phoenix AZ 85034
2. Parental Consent Form for minors.   Turn this in with the above form, if applicable.
3. Volunteer emergency contact information   Bring this with you the first day you come to volunteer.
