|
The South Mountain Rock Art Project is a multi-year collaboration between the ASU School of Human Evolution and Social Change the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, and the Center for Desert Archaeology to document and preserve the rich archaeological resources at South Mountain Park, the world's largest municipal park. In the process, we will provide hands-on training in recording methods, teach the importance of caring for fragile archaeological resources, and develop cutting-edge techniques for documenting not only the many petroglyphs in the South Mountains, but also the artifacts and archaeological features that are linked with these unique sites. The links to the left provide more information on the project, and how you can get involved!
This project is financed in part by a grant from the Historic Preservation Heritage Fund which is funded by the Arizona Lottery and administered by the Arizona State Parks Board. |
